More of French cooking classes in English

The other thread gave me pause.....it seems there are two different cooking class establishments (i'm sure there are even more). Cooknwithclass is in the Montmatre area. Lacuisineparis is closer to Notre Dame.

Is it difficult getting to either location? We'll be staying at Hotel Eber Mars, close to the Ecole Militaire stop......I've never been to France so forgive my ignorance!

Are there other cooking classes people have taken and can recommend?

Galleries Lafayette, the department store on Boul. Haussmann, offers cooking classes. I personally know only that they are available .... I have not taken a class there.

My two teenage daughters and I took public transportation to the CooknWithClass in March, our first trip to Paris.
It was easy-peasy!!! A VERY short walk from the metro to the location, a small, nice, local park to sit in. (If you are like us and arrive uber early in case of a problem.) We took the desserts class; it was fabulous!

From the Ecole Militaire can take Metro Purple 8 to Madeleine to Green 12 Jules Joffrin- about 20 minutes.
We had excellent communication in English prior to and during the class. Our teacher was super sweet and extremely knowledgeable! We would have loved to have taken their bread or market class. Next time!!
I read TONS of reviews prior to booking and could not have been happier with our experience. We wanted a class where we could participate, not a view only situation. Please feel free to email me if you have any further questions about this class or our time in Paris. Best of luck!

La Cuisine Paris is very easy to get to as it is right in Central Paris on the Right Bank across from Notre Dame. I believe the closest Metro stop would be Hotel de Ville on Line 1. I've done a class at each of these schools, Cook'n with Class being the other one, and can recommend both of them. I did the evening class at the latter and the morning market class at the former. Both are equally good, but I think La Cuisine Paris is a little easier to get to unless you are staying up near Montmartre. I think I'm going to do the Macaron class next time. Have fun.

Thank you for your responses, ladies! Even hubby thought it looked fun.....and he never thinks about cooking at home!

I like both places......we'd love to explore the Montmartre area so that would give us an incentive to make it out there.....then there's the convenience of the other place. Decisions, decisions!

kathy,

If the weathers nice and if you feel up to it, you could walk there. Its a nice walk along the Seine River.

when i was there, it wasnt difficult getting to those places using the RER and hoof.

happy trails.

I would probably take Bus Number 80 from your hotel to Cook 'n with Class in Montmartre. You can map out trips in Paris using mass transit at www.ratp.fr/en. You would get on the bus at Ecole Militaire (ask the hotel where the stop is located) and exit the bus at Mairie du 18e Jules Jofrin. You will be at the same spot as you would be if you took the metro to Jules Jofrin. I believe that you can take Bus 69 to La Cuisine Paris from your hotel.

We also took the metro from Ecole Militaire to Jules Jofrin when my daughters and I took the Morning Market Class last spring. In fact, at that time, you actually met the instructor at the Jules Jofrin metro stop so as to get shopping right away. We had already been in Paris for several days, and were old hands at the metro by then, and it was, as the other poster said "easy peasy" :)
