Montpellier Hotel Recommendations

We will be spending 4 nights in Montpellier in April 2022 and I would love recommendations for hotels. We will be traveling by train and hope to do a day trip or two while we are there, so maybe not too far from the train station, but easy to walk to the city center as well. My budget would ideally be no more than €100 per night. Thanks in advance for any advice provided.

Bonjour Andrea!
We spent 3 nights at https://www.hoteldupalais-montpellier.fr/?lang=en (Hotel du Palais) in Montpellier and really enjoyed it. The room was comfortable (it was a "Comfort Room"), the bathroom was newly renovated and very nice, the breakfast was wonderful and the staff were all amazing. (When I first saw the room, I was disappointed because the view wasn't amazing but soon realized that the room was perfect for us after all!)
I wouldn't walk from the train station but if I were 50 years younger I probably would! The location though was perfect and I believe not too far from our wonderful friends' apartment (!) We were also quite close to the Faculté de Médicine which we wanted to tour.
There were also several good cafés closeby.

Thanks Darcy, it appears there aren’t any rooms for the days we will be there.

Alexander, I will check out your recommendation. Thanks.

I have booked a room at the Grand Hotel du Midi that can be cancelled if I find something else I prefer. I’m told that the Grand Hotel location can be sketchy at night. For anyone who has stayed there, have you experienced this?

Location is perfect, far enough from the train station to avoid the usual train station sketchiness.

Hey there! I lived in Montpellier for a year (2015/2016) so would walk around town at all hours on my own and the location for the Grand Hotel is totally fine. It's maybe not the nicest right around the train station, but I wouldn't call it super sketchy, plus there were plenty of bars and late night food spots that it stays pretty busy around there. If you can find a hotel near Place de la Canourge or the cathedral, that's a lovely area (but the center of Montpellier is quite small-- nothing in the center would be more than 10/15 minutes to the train station walking). And don't miss the bakery Des Reves et Du Pain near Sainte Anne church. It's an amazing bakery (I lived in the apartment upstairs so woke up to the smell of their fresh croissants every day). And L'oignon Givré was our favorite spot for a cheap lunch!

I was able to book a confort room at Hotel du Palais. Now I just need to decide between the two hotels. Hotel du Palais seems to be a little further from the train station, so may be less of a problem potentially. Thoughts?
