Montpelier

Want to hear from travelers who have been to Montpelier---wondering if worth spending couple of days. Will be in France for month of September and spending time in Paris, Brittany, Bordeaux, Toulouse and Carcassonne. From here want to stop in Nimes (have been to Pont du Gard, Arles, Uzes but not to Nimes) before ending trip in Lyon and heading to CDG for trip home. To shorten time on train considering several days in Montpelier before overnight in Nimes. Comments and/or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Love this forum and thank seasoned travelers who help immensely in planning great trips.

Montpellier is a very happening place for all ages. It has tons of restaurants, cafés, museums, shopping, trams+bus to the beach, two opera houses, lots of music venues. There are local sites in the back country, hiking, wine tasting. In addition to Nîmes, which is 30 minutes by TGV, Sète is 15minutes away. , The Office of Tourism English-language guided tour of the Historical Center is on Saturdays.
It's 3.5 hours to Paris by TGV, so less to Lyon.
(Note the double-LL that the Vermonters lost somewhere in the Atlantic.)

We spent 4 nights in Montpellier in April enjoyed it very much. We did two day trips, one day to Séte and one day we rented a car and went to Pont du Gard, Uzes and Nîmes. We spend a full day in Montpellier and besides exploring on our own we did a walking tour that was booked the the TI. It was very interesting and we enjoyed Montpellier.
