Montparnasse and the Gare du Nord...

Montparnasse will be entirely closed - 13 platforms out of 24 - from 5 through 13 May.
Then, they will be reopened beginning 19 through 21 May.

The Gare du Nord will be closed from 21 through 22 July.

All of this is to connect the electric connections so they will function properly.

I know that you cannot give me a definite answer but have these closures for upgrading be going to schedule? Are the stations closing and opening when announced? Is it wise to wait to book tickets to and from these stations until closer to dates in case they do not reopen on time?
Thanks for your insight from ground zero.

We are travelling from Paris to Chartres on Sunday May 6th. Any suggestions for alternate transportation? It appears that the usual hourly trains from Montparnasse are not running.

How is Montparnasse entirely closed if only 13 of 24 platforms are out? What is going on with the other 11? I am a little unclear because I just bought a ticket on May 20th to Chartres and it says the train is leaving from Montparnasse. Perhaps, it is the metro stations at these stations that will be closed.

It was in "Le Parisien" yesterday.
I don't have any other information to give to anybody who is searching for alternative transportation.
If you read the Eurostar link at the beginning, it will tell you how to get to Point A to Point B.
I am sure that the works project goes on, regardless, because the crews are working around the clock.
