Montmarte and Marais in one day?

Is it realistic to see both Montmarte and Marais in just one day. If so, what is the best plan? Which place should be visited first? What is the best way to get between these two stops?

Thanks! Marcia

Yes! Spend the morning in the Marais, have lunch, then go to Montmarte...walk around, watch the sunset from Sacre Coeur and have dinner up there. You can easily see both.

Very easy and very quick with the metro, like get in at station Château Rouge line 4, direction Porte d'Orléans and change to other lines for convenient exits in Marais.

We did both in one day with http://www.paris-walks.com/index_m.html. toured the committee in the morning and marais in the afternoon. Highly, highly recommend them as a terrific and efficient way to see both the neighborhoods and the highlights. Best bargain in Paris. No reservation needed. Show up at the prescribed metro stop, pay your cash and off you go. We took many of their tours.

I add another vote for Paris Walks - have taken many walks with them over the years and have always found them to be interesting, informative and entertaining!
