My husband and I (plus little dog) are interested in spending a month in and around Lyon. We are looking to rent a well-situated apartment or house so we can enjoy and get a good feel of the city and what it has to offer. We would plan on day trips by train/bus/rented car to surrounding areas. We have typically travelled from one place to another staying in each only 1-3 days but would like to settle into an area for a change.
Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated.
Check gites-de-france. Reliable and lots of choices. We have used it for years for all size lodgings.
The dog will complicate rentals, but because you'll have one, I would suggest looking in the sixth arrondissement for lodging due to its proximity to Parc de la Tête d'Or. The park would provide lots of opportunities for walks and sights to see.
I lived in Lyon for several years, so if you have questions about specific issues regarding the town, feel free to contact me via private message and I'll do my best to help.
Another popular area for dog-walking is along the left (east) bank of the Rhône, between the Parc de la Tête d'Or (in the north) and the Parc de Gerland in the south. There is a continuous path along the river. Apartments in the 3rd or 7th that are close-ish to the river may work for you. We have been happy with rentals from Cocoon'r and Au Lyon Dort rental agencies. I have no idea whether either allows pets.
Many thanks for the responses!
