Monte Carlo Casino

Hi All,

1) I read from other review that there are lots of casinos in Monaco but just want to make sure the 'casino' casino w/ EUR10 entrance fee is Casino de Monte Carlo next to Hotel de Paris (not Monte Carlo Bay Hotel or other casino)

1) what is the dress code for visiting Monte Carlo Casino? on its website, sports shoes are not allowed, jackets are permitted after 8pm. My husband would wear his crocs, the old rubber clog model, would this be fine? i read other reviews with visitors wearing casual clothing and it's fine but i'm afraid this could be case by case assessment by the guards and tourist with no sports shoes hmm hellooo

2) the private room entry of Monte Carlo Casino is another EUR10 on top of the entrance + some rooms entry of EUR10. is it worth it as we would not gamble just looking around perhaps a different atmosphere or interior? would you need a more formal attire to enter the private room?

3) i see from its website, another casino venues which i'm not sure if they're all in the same place, Monte Carlo Casino or located in another place? They are Casino cafe de Paris, Sun Casino & Monte Carlo Bay Casino

4) would it be easy to get carpark around 1pm as the casino just opens at 2pm?

That is the main Casino. There is a small public area just inside the front entrance and you can get a small tour of the casino for fee. You will not be admitted to the main Casino. The dress code is strictly enforced. Your husband will get pass the front door unless he is better dressed. The Casino is not a tourist attraction for tourist to wonder around watching other people gamble. This is not Los Vegas.

There are huge, central parking facilities for M Carlo. Lots of capacity so I am sure you can park with no problem at one. There is no special parking for the Casino. I would not make a special trip to see the Casino as you will see very little other than the outside.

Hi Frank
So you mean the additional EUR 10 (on top of the entrance+partial of the casino EUR10) is for the main/private area of the casino?

And in this private area the dress code does strictly imposed whilst one from the entrance is not

Before you get all dressed up and do an evening visit, you may want to check out the reviews on Trip Advisor. A lot of people who visit after dark are expecting a scene out of a James Bond film with lots of beautiful people dressed in tuxedos and evening gowns sipping martini and making thousand dollar wagers, when the reality is that the casino is often deserted and they are the only people there. Those expensive cars you see parked outside are planted.

We went in late afternoon, paid the entry fees, lost 25 Euros in less time than it takes to read this sentence, sipped the obligatory martini, shaken, not stirred and departed. We had more fun at an outside table across the street from the casino, slowly nursing 10 Euro beers, and watching the Monte Carlo menagerie pass by.

Hi Ken,
thanks for the link, i missed reading that one. it gives clearer info of the rooms access. oh my should i go for the additional EUR10? last summer my friend went there and he got to the terrace and really enjoyed the view from it. could you take picture inside the casino which i assume you couldn't but it's not mentioned on the web?

Hi Michael,
you make me laugh :D nope i don't expect that scene at all. actually i just want to feel the atmosphere of what's known as high clienteles' casino (but i guess they have direct private access to the rooms). and i'd be there on 2pm when they just open so i don't expect much action at all.
and it's the first time i heard about the cars planted which could make sense. oh well we rarely come back twice to check whether they're the same cars w/ repeated plate numbers :D

Hi George
believe me or not, i never try any martini! my type of liquor is those sweet more like dessert ones like Baileys, Midori or vodka lemonade :D so i actually read reviews about this james bond's martini but never ever cross my mind that the casino does serve them the way in the movie. what's the difference than shaken but not stirred martini? how much does it cost? might try one since hey my hubby is the one who drives

Hey Jen, all bars serve martinis, almost always shaken to thoroughly mix the dab of vermouth with the straight vodka or gin. Loudly shaking/mixing cocktails adds to the bar atmosphere and really does mix things better. Some like a lemon twist, I like 3 olives, some like a cocktail onion. If you've never had one, well..... let's say it's an acquired taste. You can practice by sipping, well, turpentine..... Martini cost 20 Euros if I remember correctly, worth it so I could brag to my coffee group that James Bond had nothing on me at Monte Carlo... :-)

The website says this:

http://www.casinomontecarlo.com/plan-your-stay/casino-entry/

"Please resist the temptation to take photos, photography is prohibited."

It's also mentioned in quite a number of reviews that visitors were asked to check their cameras and video equipment at the door. There may be different rules for morning tours; not sure.

Hi George,
I'll definitely would have a try a glass of it. It's better be a high quality 'turpentine' one for EUR20 :D Thanks for sharing

Hi Kathy,
Since you mention the morning tour, i just realize that it actually opens before 2pm. It's just the table that opens at 2pm. So if i don't play and want to come earlier, could i still visit those rooms that are charged after 2pm or those rooms are still closed until 2pm?
