We will be leaving Bayeux on June 21 to head toward Mont St Michel and then heading to Sarlat for a few days. I was thinking we should stop in Amboise from 21 to 24 but that still leaves a long drive to Sarlat to arrive on 24. Any suggestions on stopping somewhere else on the way down for a couple of days? Interested in wine, villages and hiking. We have already been to Loire so that is why I am thinking of modifying.
Thanks for any help.
Just returned home from France. We drove from Sarlat to Amboise for a few days and the drive was fine…..we love Amboise and had been there before so we were happy to return. We left our rental car in Tours and trained back to Paris before flying home. We saw lots of couples at our hotel in Amboise that were there after traveling from MSM to Amboise so I decided that must not be a bad drive……..
I concur that the drive from Amboise to Sarlat is not that long (5 hours incl pit stops).
If you need to stay somewhere for the night, some people like Limoges (I'm indifferent), and near Limoges you have Oradour sur Glane, a very emotional WWII sight (I cannot spell out what happened there).
