Mont St Michel to Provence. Itinerary help needed.

Currently in the early stages of planning a 2 week (give or take a day) trip to France with my mother. Original plan was one week Paris, one week Provence, probably based in St Remy with a car rental for that portion. A family member has just returned and after seeing pictures, she really wants to spend a night on Mont st michel. This is throwing a wrench in what was initially a fairly simple travel plan. Hoping to get some thoughts on the best way to achieve this.

We are flying in and out of Paris. Possible options are: Paris-Mont-Paris-provence-paris for the night before flying out, all by train.

Going directly from Mont to Avignon by train which looks like a very long day of travel, including switching train stations in Paris.

Or renting a car on our way out of Paris and driving from Mont to St remy (9 to 10 hours) with maybe a stop overnight along the way (Loire?). I'm very comfortable driving so that's not a huge issue, and would definitely be easier then multiple train trips and transfers with luggage. Am I missing a better solution? I would love for this to work and for her to get the trip she wants.

After Paris, take the train to Rennes pick up a rental car, spend the night on/near MSM. Honestly, I'd stay on one of the hotels on Le Bas Pays, rather than on the MSM but whatever works for the trip! Then on to Loire Valley...then on to St Remy.
We found driving in France (outside of Paris) is actually very doable.

Msm is a wonderful place. I’ve enjoyed seeing 2 times. That said, it is one of many outstanding things to see and do in France. I fear that the opportunity cost of what you will miss by going out there might be too large. That said here are some ideas.

On day one rent a car at the airport and drive to Giverny, then stay somewhere quaint in Normandy. Then drive out to msm. I really like the port of Dinan. The walk along the Rance is really nice. I would spend 2 nights there instead on msm.

So now it’s day 4, drive to the Loire, 3 nights there.

Day 7, drive to Provence. Divide up your remaining days between there and Paris however you prefer, taking the train from Avignon to Paris.
