We will be spending 10 nights in Paris, then we are considering a side trip to the Mont Blanc area, possibly Chamonix for 3 or 4 nights. It will be the first part of November so what are the chances of having any sunny cold days or should we just count on rain and fog ? Also after we will be flying to Amsterdam. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what would be the least complicated city to fly from this area to Amsterdam. Many thanks.
Julie,
I don't know what the weather will be like in November but you can check the local weather report.
I will add some helpful sites in a moment.
You may want to spend a couple of days in beautiful Annecy en route to Chamonix.
You can easily take a shuttle directly from your hotel in Chamonix to Geneva's airport to catch your flight to Amsterdam ;-)
EDIT to add...

So... It looks like it's not a great time to travel to Chamonix in November, especially if you were planning to see the amazing French Alps...
In addition, Chamonix is in a horseshoe shaped valley that traps air pollution, making it have some of the worse air quality in France. Personally, I'll breath some bad air if it's worth it, but between seasons, I'd research this destination very hard.
Thanks for the information about Chamonix and especially the links to various websites. I will continue my research before making reservations.
