My Viking River cruise was supposed to end in Avignon but was now changed to Arle end of August. Planned to take train Avignon to Nice that doesn’t require train change that would be needed from Arle. We are in 80s with some mobility issues and don’t want any train changes.
Looking for best routing. One thought is taxi Arle to Avignon, then train. Possibly motor coach all the way? Any suggestions?
A taxi is easily possible and probably the least disruptive solution. Expect a charge of 80-100 Euros. Drive and train times are comparable, so if you can find a coach this is not a bad option, but if the added expense is not a major issue for you, I would just go with a taxi.
SNCF provides services to help people with mobility issues. On the SNCF Connect site, search using “accessibility “ as your key word.
Also be aware that there is Avignon Center for local trains and Avignon TGV for the fast trains to Nice are separate stations. That means the train from Arles will go to Avignon Center and then you will need to transfer the 8 minutes between Center and Avignon TGV. The transfer itself at TGV is all on the same platform and pretty close without stairs etc.
That also means if you are asking for transportation be sure you are getting transferred to Avignon TGV station not Avignon Center station.
Hope that helps,

Thanks for all the good suggestions. Just found out that the boat will be ending in AVIGNON. VIKING had switched days so that ARLE was day 7, AVIGNON day 6 so I naturally assumed ending is ARLE but seems like they WILL disembark in AVIGNON. I had already checked train schedule and lots of trains go to NICE without any change so I no longer expect any issues as I’m aware of accessible services.
