Mobilis One Day Pass Zones 1-5

Looking at variety of transportation options on our five day stay in Paris which begins on a Friday. Have ruled out Paris Visite and Navigo cards, but seems like for our “Fountainbleau Day” that a one day Mobilis Zone 1-5 One Day Pass is a good choice at €17.80 because a one way Billet Ticket from Gare de Lyon to Fountainbleau - Avon is € 8.85, or round trip for € 17.70. Since we plan to take another 3- 5 Metro, Bus and /or RER separate trips on the same day after arriving back in Central Paris, it seems we would be foolish not to buy the Mobilis 1-5 Day Pass for that day and save our carnet of T+ Tickets for the few trips in the city we will take on the other days, am I correct?

Also, I read somewhere that you can only buy an extended zone Mobilis Pass in the particular zone where you purchase it. In other words, that I cannot buy a zone 1-5 Mobilis Pass unless I am in zone
Is this true?

Finally, do you buy Mobilis Passes from the same ticket machines and ticket counters in stations where you buy T+ tickets and Billet Tickets?

You can buy any zoned Mobilis Pass you want. And you are right for a day trip to zone 5 if there will be any other travel at all that day, you at least break even and may come out ahead. Note that it ends at 11:59 though -- you have to be out of the last gate and on the street like Cinderella before the clock strikes 12 -- if you get carded after this point, you are subject to heavy fine (50 E ) for not having a valid ticket. And on the RER you need the ticket to exit so you do get caught as the ticket won't open the gate after midnight.

If you go to Fontainebleau in the morning and return to Paris in late afternoon and then make some other trips in the city, you will have used the pass to its fullest and be ahead.

A follow up..... will I be able to use the Mobilis Pass on No. 1 Bus from Fountainbleau-Avon Station and the Chateau instead of a separate T+ ticket?

Yes you will! Another point in favor of the Mobilis.
Oh, and I haven't bought one in a while, but if I remember correctly you MUST write the date on it with a pen - so carry a pen with you, as the station booths aren't always manned these days.

Yes it is good for all transport in the Ile de France except the Bus Direct from CDG and the Orlyval at Orly. You print your name on the ticket and the date. Without that you are not traveling on a valid ticket and the fine is huge if carded.
