Does anyone know how to find the Paris locations for Orange or SRF (SFR?) Or other sim card providers in Paris? I'm hoping to find something in the Marais. I need an actual company store, not a tabac where I can hopefully get detailed instructions in again hopefully, English. Thanks.
There's an Orange store at the corner of rue de Rivoli and rue Malher, just east of the St-Paul Metro station. We got terrible service from the young man in charge there last October. He spoke no English and, I think, took advantage of our inexperience and poor French to sell us a costly card that didn't meet our needs.
I just looked for Orange store locations on the web and couldn't find. I'm sure there are many, with helpful salespeople, but I hope you can avoid the one we found!
Relay shops in Charles de Gaulle also offer SIM cards. They are located at the following locations:
Terminal 1 Arrivals, next to the Tourist Information Point
Terminal 2E Arrivals, after getting baggage, past the Meeting Point Sign heading towards Les Cars Air France
Terminal 2F Arrivals, after getting baggage, across from Paul Bakery

Bad service at Orange--no surprise--we had years of dealings with them for the internet at the family house in Burgundy and again with my Sim last summer. Look for SFR; they're my normal Sim dealer and always given me good service. No, I don't work for SFR and may even get a Lebara next summer.
Thanks Dick and brushtim. Hi Bets. I seem to remember a couple years ago, when you very wisely advised me on a couple of issues, that you were using Orange. Not so good, huh? So I was looking at the Lebara site but wasn't sure it would work the same way as SFR. Only because I did not know of them. I read that they will offer the choice of instructions in English, if desired. Which would be a big plus for me. Do you think I can pick up a sim card from either company in Paris or possibly CDG? As of now I'm leaning far away from Orange. Thanks again for your input both now and earlier.
Hi Kay. I've been using SFR for at least seven years. Others can tell you about Lebara. I like what others have said and may try them this year.
We had a semi-bad experience at a Relay store in Marseilles. They said the only SIM card they had that a tourist could use and get immediate service cost 40euro. It came with 30 minutes of time. We later learned that we needed to register it with photocopies of our passport and other info which had to be mailed in and if not received in 2 weeks the service was terminated. When we arrived in Paris we went to the phone store and were told we could have purchased a 10euro SIM card which did not require registration and which we had to buy since the first one was no longer working and we had less than 2 weeks left. Next time we buy a SIM card, if the price is too high we'll wait until we get to another town and look for an actual phone store where, if the card needs to be registered, they can handle it, and if it's not needed we can get an inexpensive card.
