metro ticket question

Hi all!

When I buy a Paris metro/RER ticket, is it good for that day/time only? Like can I buy a ticket on a Thursday, but want to use it on Friday? Heading to Disneyland early on Friday and would prefer to have the tickets in hand in advance if at all possible. Also would be nice to have them ready for return trip back to our place in Paris.

Google maps says to get on the "E" at Rosa Parks, then transfer to "RER A"... I think the E is also RER, but it doesn't;t say it? OK yes I finally figured it out it is a full RER trip, E to A....

Thanks!!

tickets are good forever or until they stop accepting tickets. (tickets are being phased out). So on our last trip I used a couple of metro tickets that were several years old. They are good until used. Buy the tickets you think you need at once to make life easier. Depending on how long and when you will be in Paris a Navigo Easy or Navigo Decouverte might be a good choice.

Rosa Parks is a stop on the RER E. Metro lines have numbers in Paris; RER lines have letters.

thank you!

Yes I think maybe we should get the Navigo Easy card... I think then we add $ and all good to go....

Thank you!

the NE is fine for around Paris, but will not be useful to and from the airport, or to and from Disneyland (or Versailles or other non Paris local day trips). You don't load money on the NE, you load metro tickets -- not RER tickets, metro/bus tickets. You can load daily passes but not weekly or monthly passes.

Oh crap I thought RER and metro both used same ticket... ok I need to do some more research! Thanks!

To clarify: RER and metro use the same tickets within Paris, but RER needs special tickets to get to any specific station outside Paris (e.g. Disneyland, Versailles, Vincennes...).

The Easy will take you anywhere the metro goes, even into zones 2 and 3 here and there, but any trip out of Paris on the RER needs it own ticket to that specific station. It is important because you can get ON the RER in Paris with a metro ticket, but then you cannot exit at stations outside Paris and are subject to a big on the spot fine for traveling without a ticket.
