What's a 'reasonable' price?

$75.00- $125.00

so that's €55 to €92? That's a cheap hotel to most. Is this for a single, with the bathroom down the hall; or do you want it for more people, and more amenities?

When is the trip? Do you expect to have a car or will you be on trains?

That price range will get you a cheaper room at the Hotel de la Cathedrale, (www.hotelcathedrale-metz.fr/) which I've stayed at and liked. It's literally opposite the Cathedral. The only thing that people regularly complain about it on Tripadvisor is that the hotel occupies two separate buildings next door to each other and there are no lifts in either.

The Ibis which is near the train station is in that range. Reliable for cleanliness and a comfortable bed, but ask for an upper level room as there is a club on the same block. Bass carries.
