And to follow up on this, today's WSJ found several female tourists who decided to splurge on purses because of the favorable dollar/euro situation. One even planned a whole trip just to nab one (she used some version of miles for the trip).

My wife and daughters put a hurting on my credit card at the Golden Goose store in Paris. The favorable exchange rate and the VAT refund made it cheaper to buy them in France than it would have been at the NYC store or online.
