My wife and I want to apply for a long term visa for France, and it looks like one of the requirements is medical insurance that covers pre-existing conditions. I am 81 years old and in relatively good health. All the overseas medical insurance quotes that I see so far exclude coverage of pre-existing conditions for those over 80. Can anyone suggest a way around this, or an insurance company that will cover pre-existing conditions for someone my age? Thanks. Peter
Not sure what you mean by long term visa - nit straightfordward - see this previous thread.

Hi adodd. A couple of points.
First, this is a short-term challenge. That's because, after you are a resident in France for three months, you would be eligible for Puma (Protection Universelle Maladie; that is, universal health care).
Second, if -- like many people -- you avoid Facebook, I would suggest Expat Forum France as an alternate place to post a question and get feedback from people who may have been through your situation in the past.
