I will be on the Loire and So of France tour in Sept/Oct. We end in Nice and I was really looking forward to seeing the Matisse museum. However, I went to make a reservation today and found this on their website.
EXCEPTIONAL CLOSURE: due to the dismantling of the exhibition Matisse in the 1930s and the installation of the exhibition Shirley Jaffe: avant et après Matisse, the Musée Matisse will be exceptionally closed from September 25 to October 17 inclusive.
I am SO disappointed as he is my favorite artist. I will console myself with the fact I was able to see the Matisse exhibit at MOMA in New York in the 1990's and it was exceptional.

Oh, I wish I were going to Vence and could see the chapel, but thanks for reminding me. Next trip I guess.

I’m so sorry for you. What a disappointment. I love Matisse as well; it seems the older I get the more I love his work. That really is a long time to switch exhibits.
