Hello
We are flying from Madrid to Marseilles before starting a walking tour in Greoux Les Bain's. Should we spend 3 days in Marseilles before hand or 3 days in Aix en Provence. Looking for a 3 day home base before our tour. We don't have a car rented. Thanks. Trip is early September.

It would help if you said what type of ambiance you are looking for: large, edgy, gritty city vs more relaxed, charming, historical town with a major university. Marseille has large hills with sites spread out, while Aix is much flatter and compact.

I will add that it is very easy to visit Aix for the day from Marseille and vice-versa.
Aix is a bit closer to Gréoux and the bus station in Aix is very central, so I would aim for Aix. Also, Aix is more restful than hectic Marseille after a long journey.
