Marseille into Luberon area

Hello...does anyone have much experience with renting a car in Marseille and driving into their place of stay in the Luberon? I will be in Bonnieux or Saint Saturnin.

I was thinking of railing to Orange and getting a car there, but I am considering skipping a train ride and just driving straight from Marseille...

Kind Regards

Personally I would skip the train ride and just rent the car in Marseille and drive to Bonnieux or Saint Saturnin. It would be faster than taking the train to Orange and renting the car there.

Right...I am wondering about the complexity of renting a car in Marseille and driving out of the city. I suspect it's not too bad, but I've never done it from there.

I rented a car in Nice, stayed in Lourmarin exploring the Luberon, then returned the car to the airport in Marseille. So, not exactly your trip, but found the driving OK. The area around Marsielle has many highways and if we did not have GPS we probably would have gotten lost, until the signs began to show the airplane symbol. Then we just followed that, once you are outside of Marsielle the driving is quite nice.

I've rented a car at the Marseille airport and it was easy to get out to the autoroute and on to our destination. Go for it.

I've rented a car at the Marseilles airport a few times, and getting in and out is pretty easy. I wouldn't even try from Marseilles center. One time we flew into Marseilles, took the shuttle bus into the center and stayed the night, then took the bus back to the airport the next morning and picked up a car.
