Will be in Marseille for one day in September 2025. Looking for options for the day for some mobility challenged individuals. Although no canes, walkers or wheelchairs, most of the individuals can't walk long distances or have lung issues. Suggestions on what to do and best places to eat?
I can't comment on places to eat though I can say that you should try lboulliabaise in Marseille, a fish soup like dish that is absolutely delicious. I spent about a half day in Marseille while traveling via a cruise. However, we did not dock at the usual terminal for the cruise ships but almost across the street from La Panier de Marseille, the oldest church in France. If you continue on from there the neighborhood is manageable and full of artists and wonderful street art. I highly recommend it. You'd be close to the ship if you're traveling with Viking Cruises. It's the only line docking at this particular port.
mfwelscher,
I believe you dock at the Panier section, the oldest part of Marseille. There should be lots of places to have a good meal there. One place that you would best take a taxi to is ChezFonfon in the Vallon des Auffes. It is a charming little inlet, and Chez Fonfon has been around seemingly forever.Known for Provencal pizza and pissaladiere, it also serves bouilabaisse and some great seafood dishes.
