I'll be leaving the Marseille area (Plan d'Aups) , destination Vézelay, in early October. Any advice on getting there? (car rental not an option). Thanks!

From Marseille to Sermizelles Vezelay train station takes 2 or 3 connections. Train tickets on fast trains via Paris will usually cost more, but can be faster than other options. Rick's book indicates that there are only two shuttle buses per day from Sermizelles Vezelay to your destination, but taxi is another option. To catch the last shuttle bus, you have to depart Aubagne around 12:00 or Marseille by 13:00.
