Marseille airport to Avignon

Avignon is probably an hour away so I would not depend on grabbing a cab off the taxi stand willing to drive that far and come back empty so you should expect to book a point to point transfer service.

I haven't done this transfer but the bad news is it looks like there are several transfers to make this work if you don't book a ride. Probably a bus from the airport to the Aix en Provence TGV station (10 minutes) the fast train to Avignon TGV (20 minutes) and then a short train (15 minutes) to Avignon Center. Driving is much slower than the TGV but the time will probably be about the same driving as bus/train because of the transfers.

I've done the Avignon TGV to Avignon Center a bunch of times and it's easy but if you're afraid you're going to be past doing more transfers then you will probably be avoiding two more by driving instead. I wish I had a transfer service to recommend but I'm sure someone else will have one.

The train ride to Avignon is easier than highlighted above: you just need to get on the shuttle/bus to Vitrolles-Aéroport railway station, from where there are direct trains to Avignon-Centre.

Regarding taxis: I would not count on an airport taxi agreeing to this out-of-zone ride. Uber is offering rides in the 120-150€ range, but I would be wary of drivers actually agreeing to this. I would recommend you start by asking your hotels for suggestions; 150-200€ would be fair IMO.

@balso is correct there are 2 or 3 an hour direct slower trains to Avignon Centre from Vitrolles which would save you a transfer.

Some trains are about an hour and some are more like 1:30. The train tickets run about 21e so you're probably looking at @ ~45e for two people for reference versus hiring a driver.
