Simone,
Hotels in Marseille have been discussed here before. I suggest putting "Marseille hotels" in the above search bar, then filter for "forum" and then for "one year or less"). Click on the different options that come up for some recommendations. Balso is a very knowledgeable and reliable contributor to the forum, among others. I hope this helps
For what it's worth, we stay with family in the Marseille area, so can't recommend any hotels, sorry. But I do recommend a couple of restaurants if you venture to the Vallon Des Auffes neighborhood...Chez Fonfon and Chez Jeannot. Enjoy Marseille, an underrated city if France, IMO!

To me the best one is the Hotel Beauvau by MGallery. It's right on the vieux port, a métro is very close and it just puts you in the Marseille mood. Chopin himself once ate there.

The Beauvau is a good call if it is in your budget.
If not, the Escale Océania and the Carré Vieux Port are also good choices.

And if you're really on a budget, I've never been inside but the Ibis Budget, while in a loud location, is supposed to be decent for the price.

As a disclaimer, there are plenty of new-ish hotels in Marseille that I don't know, I don't travel to Marseille as regularly as I used to.
