Marsaille , help with a place to stay

Due to the train strike, will arrive in Marsaille on 5/30/18. Will need to stay until 6/1/ to travel on to Nice France. This was an unplanned stay. Would need to find a hotel near the train station. Could leave my luggage at the train terminal for convenience. Where could I stay with a budget of 100.00 or so US dollars and what could I see while while there. Only alternative is to arrive one day early and hope to check into my hotel in Beaulieu Sur Mer a day early. I have not been to Marseille so this would be a nice change of plans. 1 ... Hotel choices
2 ... What to see for and afternoon and 1 additional day?
Use this forum so much and any help would be so appreciated.

In Marseille, I stayed on two trips at the Hotel Carre Vieux Port. Modern, great staff, wonderful location, reasonable price. It's literally around the block from the boat basin and the nightlife. It is a MUCH more desirable area than that around the RR station. Here’s a link to their website. i would call them to find out what the best available price would be rather than just booking on line. Getting to the Old Port early in the AM, it’s great to see the fishmongers selling the morning catch and just wandering around the port. Take a boat ride around Chateau d’If and view the Calanques from the sea. You could also visit Notre-Dame de la Garde perched on the hill that overlooks the city and the 5 year old Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations. It’s a gritty city and one of my favorite places to visit in France.
