We will be staying in Margaux for four days in late September after spending a few days in the Dordogne around Beynac. Can anyone suggest day trips from Margaux to surrounding villages or other interesting sites?
Thanks.
I'd recommend going into Bordeaux itself. Lots to do there.
You could head down to Cap Ferret or Arcachon for the day. And, if you haven't been to Bordeaux, I'd recommend adding that to your list of day trips.
Thanks, we plan to spend a couple of days in Bordeaux, but looking for other interesting villages or towns to try.
In addition to the other towns I mentioned, you could visit Libourne. It's a quirky city but I like it. I believe their market days are on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. You could head further afield and visit Biscarosse but that may be too far of a drive for a day trip from Margaux. I'm assuming, since you are staying in Margaux, you've planned wine visits already.
St Emilion is a gorgeous little village, though admittedly packed with tourists. Definitely worth a visit.
