Lufthansa Express bus goes directly from FRA to Strasbourg in about 3 hours. https://www.lufthansa.com/xx/en/lufthansa-express-bus

The Christmas markets in Mulhouse and Hagenau will be open. I would take the train to either, or both.

There is a chocolate museum in Colmar.

Know that “stars” in Europe have nothing to do with quality. They signify amenities offered (restaurant, pool, spa, etc), not quality of those amenities. Use a booking site to find something in your budget with the amenities you want, but be prepared to get two rooms. Finding rooms that sleep 4 on real beds (not sofa beds) is very difficult in Europe.

Yes. The Strasbourg Christmas Market runs from November 27- December 27 ( 11:30 am- 9pm) and it’s one of the best Christmas markets in Europe!

We really liked the Regent Petite France hotel in Strasbourg. It was in a lovely location and walkable to the Cathedral and also the train station. You may also enjoy a day trip by train to Colmar. The buildings in Colmar are like a fairy tale.

I liked Hotel Beaucours in Strasbourg. Took the tram from the train station and got there quickly. A few minutes walk from the cathedral.
