Will be traveling by car from Macon area to Avignon area over two (2) days.
Any recommendation as to an interesting route other that A7 and also town to stop for evening.
Will need to be at Avignon area later on the second day.

I really like Lyon--(especially for the restaurants) but it's on A7 and not very far along the way...not sure about other options! Maybe someone else will have a suggestion.

Montelimar is a good place to stop. Or you could pop out of the way a bit and head to Nyons to east or Uzes to the west and then head to Avignon on day 2. If you are interested in Michelin starred dining, you could stop in Valence, which has the restaurants of Anne-Sophie Pic.
