Take the train. I think you need the C1, but check the map. Be aware that the main train station connects to a large mall, and the trains run through both. You need to pay attention to where you come up because it's easy to be in the wrong half of the complex.

I would take the RhônExpress tram/light rail. It's convenient, comfortable, air conditioned, and drops you off on the east side (Avenue Thiers side) of Lyon's Gare Part-Dieu, from which you can get anywhere in the city on public transit. Buy a round trip ticket if you plan to take it both ways rather than two one-way tickets: that will save you 4€.
ps: it's TGV (train à grande vitesse, i.e. high speed train)
