I often ask directions from Google on separate occasions and get different directions. I would like to walk around the Croix Rousse district. I had planned on taking the Metro up to Croix Rousse, Google once said get off at Croix Rousse stop and now it says get of at Henon. Does it make a difference? Just more walking? Any advice welcomed.
Looking at the stops it seems to me that Croix Rousse is in the interesting "front" section of the hill near the square and the park over looking the city while Henon seems much more in the housing and apartment section. Unless you have some reason to go as far as Henon I don't think that area looks all that interesting.
You can hop on Google maps and "walk" around the areas a little bit. I've only been as far as the Croix Rousse area facing the city so maybe there is some charming area hidden back near the Henon stop but I'm not seeing it. Instead I see apartment blocks and the hospital.
My $.02, enjoy Lyon,

Yes, Croix-Rousse is the better metro stop to get off at. From there you can see the nice bits of the Croix-Rousse plateau and then head down the hill into the Presque-Ile.
I don't think there's a lot of reason to go to Hénon if you basically just want to see the fun parts of the Croix Rousse. Do stop by the Gros Caillou. It's just a rock but is considered a landmark and I've always wondered why …
The interesting stuff (to me) is the "streets" that are basically staircases, the Musée des Canuts, and - particularly further down the hill - the general boho ambiance - e.g. there used to be a tattoo shop that opened for a few hours a week for a few months of the year but had amazing artwork outside.
The Gros Caillou is interesting because it's an "erratic", as geologists say -- a rock from way up in the Alps that was brought down by a glacier in the Ice Age and left behind when the ice retreated.
