Lyon Hotels

You all were so helpful with our search for a Paris hotel, we're hoping you can help us with suggestions for Lyon. We were hoping for the Mercure Lyon Centre Beaux Arts Hotel, but they are full when we will be there. We would like to be in walking distance of restaurants and things to do. We will be there in early April with our two year old. Thank you!

I rented an Airbnb apartment. If you look at a map, the area I'd recommend is from the funicular north along the river in old Lyon. There is a steep hill that's roughly four or five blocks from the river. Use the funicular as a guide and stay between there and the river for relatively easy walking and lots of good restaurants. The next best place would be right across the river from there (between the rivers). If you're in that area, you will have reasonable walks and lots of cafes/pubs to choose from.

When you go up (or down) the hill for sights, use the funicular.

We enjoyed our stay at www.hotelcelestins.com. Centrally located, friendly staff, and nice rooms. We were in a superior room on the theater side which is probably too small to add a child's cot. Perhaps check out their Jr. suites or flats.
