Hi, I will be in Lyon for a weekend in September. I am traveling by myself as I will be working in EU for couple weeks. Any suggestions for hotels in the city centre? Thank you.
Kate
We enjoyed our stay this summer at Rick Steves recommended Hotel Celestins.
We enjoyed Sofitel Lyon Bellecour when we were in Lyon in 2013.
Kate I just back from Lyon about a week ago, my dd and I stayed at the Okko Hotel and loved it!!!
It includes breakfast each morning, and 24 hr access to the lounge/ breakfast room, which had two full size fridges stocked with juices, pops, water bottles, yogurts, yours for the taking. There was also two automatic coffee machines that made a dozen different coffees (lattes, caps etc) ,also free 24 hrs a day.
Every evening from 7-10 you are served a complimentary glass of wine, and there is a spread out out, meant I suppose as snacks, but 90% of folks we saw were making it dinner, all free. Cheeses, cold meats, salad one day, wam quiche another, lovely.
The room was modern and comfy , nice large shower with good water pressure.
Hotel was located on river, just over Pont Lafayette a few minutes stroll to " Vieux Lyon" ( the old part of city, with tons of cafes, shops restaurants etc.
Staff were exceptional,and very helpful!
PS Hotel Okko had Apples and printed in lounge for our use.
Dear All -
Just a quick followup that I did stay in the Hotel Celestins which worked out great. The only thing a bit complicated is that their front desk closes at 11 pm and you pick up the key down the street. Not a big deal, but it was a bit confusing after a long day of work and then travel.
Lyon was perfect for my 36 hour visit - the French Resistance and Deportation History Center is fantastic.
Thanks again.
Glad to hear you liked Lyon - of the cities in France I've seen, it's my favorite outside of Paris.
