Starting our European adventure in Lyon for 4 days in early July. My husband and I like centrally located, slightly upscale (prefer modern to antique), maximum of €250)night. We'll be coming from Arizona so expect exhaustion for the first night--quiet room and AC important!
I stayed at Mercure Lyon Beaux Arts last September. It was clean, modern, had good AC, and was centrally located. There was a fridge in the room. It was about a 10 minute walk across the bridge to Vieux Lyon.
I liked the Hotel des Artistes on Place des Celestins, a block from the Saone, a few minutes walk from Vieux Lyon and Place Bellecour (with metro station), lots of restaurants nearby. It was quiet, clean, comfortable, with helpful staff. They offered a continental breakfast in the room, or a buffet downstairs. My room was small, but the second best I had in six hotels on that trip.
I've also stayed at the Mercure Lyon Beaux Arts. Excellent Central location.
Just a five minute walk to Rue Merciere, a pedestrian street line with wonderful little restaurants.
I had le Grenelle at Le Merciere. Excellent. Make reservations.
We stayed at Hotel des Celestins. Wonderful hotel and great location. We really loved Lyon!
