You’ll get referrals from people who live there and take private lessons. You’ll also have teacher offering their services respond.

OP note that although Bob didn’t mention it, he used to live in Lyon so has had on-site experience with this.

I found an excellent tutor at the Alliance Française in Lyon. While she was very, very good, the AdF did not have a formal or effective system to assess a potential student’s skill level. Their facility was pleasant enough and was conveniently located.

I went through a language school called Inflexyon. They do classes but also offer one-on-one tutoring. I was very happy with my tutor. For me it was online, but they do in person. I also took the DALF there and things seemed pretty well-run.
