Hello,
My husband and I are renting a car in Lyon, France and driving to Interlaken, Switzerland mid September. We only have 3 days to spend in Interlaken. What towns are a must see with short stops on our drive to Interlaken? On the 3rd day we return back to France and head to Avignon where we plan to stay a week. What places are worth stoping on our drive to Avignon?
I believe the weather in September is mild and we should not have any problems on the road. Any other tips for the drive are appreciated.
Thank you,
CB
We drove straight through once but only take the train between Lyon and the BO now. Your best resource is the Michelin green guide to the areas.
Be sure you're up to speed (pun intended) on driving in two different countries, things like vignettes and insurance requirements
Interlaken to Avignon is too long of a drive to plan for big stops.
Annecy would be the obvious choice, but might be too time consuming. You can plan for a lakeside picnic break at Plage d'Albigny (best view, decent parking nearby), but you won't have time to visit the town.
Another suggestion would be Pont en Royans, a cute village at the edge of the Vercors, not too far from the A49 motorway.
For Lyon to Interlaken: consider Morat/Murten just before Bern and right next to the A1 motorway. It is super cute.
