Hi...my girlfriend and I are excited to be visiting Paris and Lyon in September and I'm hoping for some advice on a good food tour in Lyon. Please include basic features, length of time and cost. Many thanks!
I'd love to see the suggestions and recommendations people give for this question.
In the meantime, you can Google "Lyon food tour" and get lots of results to research through.
ghannusch, that's a tall order, you must be very hungry ;-). But seriously-because food is a serious subject-here are my suggestions:
1. Go to Les Halles Paul Bocuse. Plan to spend two or three hours. Look around, buy things, eat them!
2. Dine at Cafe Des Federations
3. Dine at Daniel & Denise, on rue Crequi
4. Dine at Le Petit Frere, in the 6th
I second Les Halles Paul Bocuse. Was there two weeks ago and spent a long time taking it all in. I'm not sure you need to do a tour per se (especially since Les Halles seems to be amazing everything in one spot). I found the city very easy to navigate both on foot and tram/metro. Might be worth it to just do some research ahead of time and figure out what other food things strike your fancy and just do it yourself. Just be aware that Les Halles really shuts down in the middle of the day ( I think about 2 to 4), so plan accordingly.
My sister did a Plum Lyon market tour in June and loved it.
I also second a visit to Les Halles, as well as to the outdoor market on the banks of the river on certain days of the week. I'll also put in a plug for an apartment rental through Corinne Lanelluc, whom we've rented from a couple of times. This way you can buy all kinds of stuff at Les Halles and bring them back to the apartment. This is the apartment we rented 3 years ago: http://www.urbansejour.com/appartement/lyon/lyon-3-saxe-gambetta-avenue-appartement-meuble-avec-1-chambre-location-saisonniere/1
