Traveling to Lyon, would like recommendations for lodging and restaurants
To get the most appropriate advice, you need to give us your nightly hotel budget in euros and tell us how many people will be in the room. Do you have an idea of what part of the city you want to be in--based on the sights you want to see or other considerations? Lyon is a rather large place.
For restaurants, guidance on type of food and general price range would be useful. Google tells me there are more than 4000 restaurants in Lyon, of which 91 are Michelin-listed, so we need to narrow down your request.
Have a quenelle at the Rick recommended Cafe de Soleil, 2 Rue Saint-Georges. It’s a charming local place with well prepared, reasonably priced food.
Cafe de Soleil?
Lived in Lyon for several years. Ate at many, many restaurants with local residents as well as discovering many on my own.
Never heard of that place. There are a multitude of good restaurants in Lyon that Rick Steves' crew have never tried.
One shouldn't limit oneself.
Be adventurous.

We just left Lyon this morning! We stayed at lovely hotel - Hotel Silky. Would definitely recommend, quiet and charming part of hotel, not terribly expensive, either.
Food, we tried La Gache and Les Lyonnais for Lyon-style food. Go hungry, you will leave stuffed.
For bakeries, Praulus was fantastic as was cafe Joyeux.
Enjoy!
We have enjoyed the Hotel des Celestins in Lyon. Great location with larger rooms/suites which was great because we were staying for a while.
Cafe Comptoir Abel while probably not the best restaurant according to the critics in Lyon it is an institution. It is the oldest bouchon in Lyon and a loved favorite of the locals. The gigantic and always super busy Brasserie Georges is another experience restaurant near Perrache station. But there are tons of good restaurants - consider coming early (before 1:00) to experience Les Halles de Paul Bocuse and eat in one of the places that serves food there.
Enjoy Lyon,

I stayed at the (Hôtel Fourvière when I was there in July. It's not located smack-dab in the middle and is slightly out of the way to get to the presqu'ile, but it was a 10 minute walk to the funiculaire that takes you into the old town. It was a destination itself. The hotel is beautiful - in an old monestary. We loved it. And had dinner there one night (Les Téléphones. The breakfast had the best pear juice I've ever encountered.
One restaurant we really enjoyed that was rather casual, but had a very delicious high-quality cuisine was Le F2. It's terrasse has a view of the Hôtel-Dieu.
