Lyon drone video during quarantine

This already might be familiar to many of you, but this link goes to a video on Vimeo prepared by an aerial drone service provider in Lyon. It depicts various parts of Lyon, focusing mainly on the river sides, Fourvière Hill, and Place Bellecour.

The near-complete emptiness of the streets and public spaces is amazing to see, especially if you know how busy those features are during normal times. It's beautiful in an almost surreal, yet sad way.

My read of the dedication statement at the end is as follows:

Video in homage to all the participants:

  • The doctors
  • Recovery service providers
  • The nurses
  • Caregivers
  • Ambulance drivers
  • Paramedics
  • Public safety workers
  • Professional and volunteer firefighters
  • Law enforcement agencies
  • Delivery workers
  • Truckers
  • Garbage collectors
  • Store cashiers
  • And all people who are working during this containment period

In that last category, I would highlight bakers and pâtissiers. Maybe because it seems more precious right now, but the baguettes seem especially good and (perhaps only in my imagination) but the croissant I had the other day for breakfast was one of the best in memory.

Thank you, Sammy. Emotional, lovely video.

The irony about the flavorful baguette and croissant is that in our reduced worlds, food does take on more importance, while for those with the virus a sense of taste or smell is diminished.

Hey Sammy, thanks for this, it is a lovely video. As well, so is the next one in the company queue on Vimeo, where they show progress on a solar panel installation in a quite inhospitable locale.

Thanks again.
