Hello
We will be in Lyon next week for a few days. I have heard great things about how the city is lit up at night. Are there any places in the city that are particularly beautiful at night, or any vantage points to view the skyline ?
Thanks
The official page for Lyon at night has some info here

and the film festival info is here

The tops of the two hills are more interesting in the daytime.
The Fete des Lumieres is only for one weekend in December every year. There are vantage points all around the city, but some of the most obvious are by the basilica on Fourviere, on the Passerelle des Quatre Vents on the footpath between the basilica and the Loyasse cemetery (may be a bit lonely at night, so not to try if you are alone), and from the Place de la Croix Rousse.
thank you all !!
I believe a number of buildings in Lyon might be regularly lit at night. I remember strolling through the old part at night and seeing many lit buildings. I think the Fourviere Basilica may always be lit at night, and you can see it from a lot of locations.
I just want to temper your expectations a bit. I too had read in Rick's book how Lyon at night is so specially lit. I loved Lyon, but found its night lighting to be... nothing special. It's a great city, but don't expect magical night lighting, and you won't be disappointed.
