We have booked a week in France the end of August to early September. We are flying into Lyon, and would like to end up in Colmar. We may have a rental car. What are the recommended sights that we should see along the way?
Thinking about Avignon? Chamonix? Wine Tours?
A week goes by quickly. You'll want 2 full days in Lyon and same in Colmar (for Colmar itself plus the villages in the surrounding wine country).
In between, you have Burgundy, which is well worth the 3 days you have left. Beaune is a classic base town for the southern part of the region, which has the most famous sights.
Or if Annecy is really high on your radar, you could spend just 2 nights/1.5 days in Lyon before heading to Annecy, then Burgundy.
