Lyon Airport Area Dining

After the month of September in France we will be driving to the Lyon airport turning in our car and spending our last night in the NH Hotel at the airport. Are there any recommendations for our last meal in the airport area? Looks kind of dire out there but too far to go into the city.

I assume you're referring to Aéroport Lyon-Saint Exupéry and if so, you're right -- as with many newer airports, it's pretty isolated.

If you'll still have your car, Terra Nova in the nearby community of Genas (10-15 min by car) wouldn't be a bad choice. There's also Le Restaurant in Saint-Priest a bit SW of Genas.

If you'll have already turned in your car and don't want to take the Rhônexpress tram into central Lyon or a taxi anywhere in the area, then L'Atelier des 2 rives within the airport probably would be your best option, as long as you keep in mind it's airport food.

We spent a night in the NH hotel two years ago and had a nice dinner in the hotel.

I would take the Rhone Express into Lyon and spend as much time there as you can, including dinner. I don't know when your flight is, but when we've flown out of Lyon (this May and last year) we've stayed in Cremieu, which is an easy 20 minute drive from the airport. It's a great little town, with an outstanding small, family-run hotel, Auberge de la Chaite (http://www.aubergedelachaite.com/fr/accueil/), that has one of my favorite restaurants in France (although there are numerous other choices.

Thanks for the suggestions.

According to Michelin we have a five hour drive from our gite near Sarlat so with a quick sandwich we might make it in six hours. I would like to go into Lyon but after cleaning out the gite, the drive and turning in the car etc I doubt we will be up to train ride into the city.

After a month of great food I hate to have our last meal at the airport. It looked like the closest of the three places you all mentioned was Terra Nova at about 8 km. I get the feeling someone likes Italian food. :) I'll look into the cost of a taxi.

Our tradition is to take some especially sinful pastries from our favorite pastry shop to have as our last desert so at least there's that.
