We’ll be driving from Bordeaux to Les Eyzes on October 6, hoping to visit the National Museum of Prehistory before going to our hotel in Sarlat. I had thought of stopping for lunch at Le Vieux Logis in Tremolat, but an acquaintance familiar with the area said that a lunch there, which should be leisurely to be appreciated, would make the rest of the day too rushed—it could be an hour from the restaurant to the Museum (which is open until 6), and then perhaps an hour from the museum to Sarlat. Although he knows the area, having a home there, I’m not sure about his timing. Based on the timing on Bing maps, I think it would be a little over two hours from Bordeaux to Tremolat, and perhaps 35-40 minutes to the Museum, so even if we left Tremolat at 2:30 or so, I think we’d get to the Museum at around 3 or a little after, which would give us until 6 to explore—it doesn’t open until 2 anyway. And from Les Eyzes to Sarlat seems to be around 30 minutes. Of course, the days are getting shorter, but from sunset tables, it will be light until almost 7:30, which should give us time to locate our hotel. Might this work, or would we be better off not taking the time for a longer lunch?
We could go to Le Vieux Logis on the way back to Bordeaux instead. But then, any suggestions about a nice place for lunch on the way to Les Eyzes—or when we get there--would be appreciated.
