I am seeking up-to-date information on luggage storage in Vernon, France. Rick wrote in his 2013 France book on p. 252 that luggage can be stored at Café-Tabac de la Gare in Vernon (a block past the train station bus stop........at 138 Rue d'Albuféra...." But can anyone confirm that this is still possible? Thank-you!
See if they have a website/e-mail address. Or, just pick up the phone, call, ask.
I couldn't find a website, and I didn't even think about phoning internationally. You're right. I could do try that. Thank-you.
I finally found something, although there is no mention of this store on Trip Advisor or Rick Steves. There seems to be a luggage/travel shop that will store luggage for €4 per bag. It's called Holibag. Here's a link for anyone who might want it: https://holibag.io/en/city-locker/vernon--rue-aux-huiliers/105
Apparently you have to register the bags online. The website clearly states: "Please note, you must book a storage space before entering the shop. Without reservation, the shopkeeper will refuse to keep your luggage."
Note: They are closed Sunday and Monday.
Again, I have not ready any reviews or conversation about this business on Rick's site, Trip Advisor, or anywhere else, so confirmation is needed.
Thank you for reporting back. This will be most useful for others and essential to know days closed and that reservations are required.
The website looks just fine. If you inquire and receive confirmation, you're likely good to go.
This is one of those invaluable insider tips found only on travel forums, a good reason to peruse forums on a regular basis of places you plan to visit as the question may not come up frequently or with a web search.
