I know this question has been asked before, but nothing since 2011. We are planning an overnight from Paris with one day in Epernay and next day in Reims (Cathedral, maybe additional wine tour, and lunch at Parc de les Crayeres.) We then head to London afterwards (via Paris). I realize it's a lot of travel. My husband wants to stay in Epernay and use this as our base- meaning after lunch in Reims, take train back to Epernay collect our bags from hotel and train back to Paris-London. This seems crazy, but without luggage storage, I don't see any other options. Any suggestions to save our marriage would be appreciated.
This RailEurope webpage indicates that there is luggage storage at ther Reims station, but I don't kow whether to believe that. The general trend in recent years has been to eliminate that service for security reasons, and if you Google "luggage storage Reims" you'll find a lot of forum posts by people looking for a place to store their bags in the past. I'd want to confirm that RailEurope's information is current. Perhaps someone from this forum has needed to store a bag in Reims very recently, or maybe there's an email address out there for the rail station.
This old thread on TripAdvisor mentions that the Suite Hotel Reims Centre near the train station was willing to store luggage in 2012. In Italy I once walked into a 3-star hotel at a not-busy time with a 5-euro note in my hand. The counter staff person was happy to take my money in exchange for keeping my bag for the afternoon. In your situation, you need to know for sure that you can find a place, so emailing ahead would be prudent.
This looks like a solid possibility: Nannybag. There's an email address at the bottom of the webpage, so you can verify service availability in Reims. I'm guessing they use lockers but have never run into this company before.
And this Holibag website purports to show a bunch of places where you can store luggage in Reims, but the photos are odd: a bakery, a photography studio, retail stores???
This is very helpful. Thank you for your quick reply.
Hi KBH,
I'm not sure when you are going to Reims. I am going late March, and in looking up the Cathedral, it seems tours are only available on Sat and Sun. Just passing this on in case it affects your plans. I am hoping to enter the Cathedral (on a Thurs) but I'm not sure a formal tour is possible that day.
Hi there- we just returned from our trip to Europe. Epernay and Reims was great. We did not get a formal tour of Cathedral but it is beautiful and not to be missed. If you are there to eat and drink some good champagne. I suggest eating at Le Parc Restaurant des Crayeres! The crayeres was an exceptional experience (and uber expensive) but even if you only go there to sit in their library for a few glasses of Champagne by the glass - it's worth it! Good luck!
