Lucarno to Chamonix - good stops? Cable car in from Aosta?

In early July 2024, my husband and I are traveling by driver from Lucarno to Chamonix via the scenic route (traveling through Champagne/Aosta around lunchtime). Any suggestions on a 2 hour stop for lunch?

Also, does anyone have a recommendation on having a driver drop us in LaPalud to take cable cars into Chamonix? WIll they be open? Are they reliable? How long would it take? I found this route from a post by @darrenblois in the forum on cable car route:

  • From Aosta to La Palud.

From La Palud, take cable car to the Hellbronner (peak at border
between Italy and France): https://www.montebianco.com/en

From Hellbronner, another cable car across the glacier to Aiguille du Midi:

From Aiguille du Midi, its a thrilling cable car down to Chamonix:

Hi!
So the cable car from Courmayeur to Punta Helbronner (SkyWay) will be open (you can get your ticket in advance on the skyway website, and the gondola Panoramic Mont Blanc is usually open during summer (you cannot get tickets in advance as it might close due to the weather conditions), the lift from Aiguille du Midi to Chamonix should be open. You could have a lunch at the Punta Helbronner .
In my opinion this is once in a lifetime experience and it takes nearly whole day to do this trip. It's simply amazing.

Locarno to Chamonix is not that short of a drive, so if you stop for lunch and all, I don't think you'll have enough time to complete the cable car crossing of the Mont Blanc massif. It is easy to do from Chamonix anyway, doubling back at Pointe Helbronner. Or if you want to do it on your travel day, skip the scenic route, have a quick early lunch in Courmayeur maybe (or purchase a picnic there), and head to La Palud asap. I have no idea about the reservation policy for that route. Your driver could then take your luggage to France through the tunnel.
