Has anyone spent enough time in the Luberon region in southern France to recommend a nice scenic village or favorite hotel? I am planning a side trip of 2 or 3 nights during a month's stay in Paris next spring.
We stayed in Lourmarin. Charming village, flat so walking is easy. Easy drive to other quaint towns. Albert Camus is buried there in case you are a literature buff.
Roussillon is a touristic but wondeful village. Same as Gordes, a totally scenic village close by.
Lourmarin, Bonnieux, ménerbes are less touristic and very charming villages as well.
I visited Gordes in May but didn't stay there, very scenic town with great views of the valley and if I went back I would stay.

I would stay in Roussillon or Joucas.
Highly recommend Le Mas Perreal (http://www.masperreal.com/), a B&B outside of Saint Saturnin les Apt. Saint Saturnin didn't feel touristy even when we were there in July, and Roussillon and Gordes are a short drive away. Try for 3 nights; it's a lovely region and you'll wish you had more time!
My wife and I stayed in Lacoste during our time in the Luberon, and can recommend this apartment:
The rate was reasonable, it had great views from a private balcony, and Caron and Finn were wonderful hosts. Unfortunately, there aren't any restaurants in Lacoste, but we purchased fresh produce and other resources from nearby markets and cooked for ourselves, or had dinner in neighboring villages like Bonnieux and Roussillon. There was a boulangerie within walking distance with fresh eggs, croissants, and Pain au chocolat for breakfast. Great memories!
