Hello everyone. I (and one other of our travel group) tried unsuccessfully to purchase tickets today for a May date for both the Louvre and Versailles. I attempted a second time to purchase and card was still not authorized. I contacted my bank card company who said they approved the purchase and that I should not have any issues. (Also, I had created my account in order to purchase tickets...when I attempted to sign on again...it did not recognize my account.) As mentioned earlier, another of our party received the same "error" message when attempting to make a ticket purchase. I tried another browser with no luck. Any helpful suggestions?
Sometimes it's a website problem on the other end, in which case the issue will probably be resolved fairly quickly. These are things I would try in the meantime:
- Use a different device (PC/tablet/smartphone).
- Use cellular data (or a different Wi-Fi) rather than your home Wi-Fi.
- Try every credit card you own.
- Try your debit card.
- If PayPal is an option, use that. It is almost guaranteed to work.
- Occasionally account registration seems to dislike a particular email domain, so if you have a second email account, try it.
Thank you...I will give those suggestions a try!
Hi,
I just had this same issue last night with the Louvre website. I ended up using a Citi bank card and my transaction went through. I had to contact my other card issuer bank and was able to clear a fraud alert.
Hope that helps!
Thank you. We were able to get our Versailles tickets but no luck for the Louvre. We may be trying to purchase them too early (going later in May) so we will try in another week to purchase the tickets.
So glad I saw this post. Had same issue yesterday and today with Lourve. Third time with Amex after trying 2 visa cards did the trick. Very frustrating.
Yes, was able to purchase tickets for both the Louvre and Versailles using American Express...other group members had to also use Am Ex or Citi Bank cards - unable to use Chase Sapphire for some reason.
I was having the same issue!
Finally, my Apple card worked. The initial transaction was rejected, but Apple quickly followed up with a request for me to confirm the validity of the transaction. Once I confirmed, I was able to try the transaction again...and it worked!!!
Enjoy your travels, everyone!
