The Louvre announced yesterday that they will raise the cost of an entry ticket to 22 euros (from the current 17 euros) as of January 15.
It's the first ticket cost hike at the Louvre since 2017.

Entry to Kunsthistoriches in Vienna is 21 euros so it isn’t surprising I suppose. I think I’ll be getting the yearly friends of the Louvre next time I go to Paris. I’m one of those people who go often and long anytime I’m in Paris. It may go up as well I guess. It still is such an amazing place.
@Lyndash, I think that is probably a very useful thing to have!
Kim, thanks for the update. It's still a bargain compared to some venues. I just looked to see what Westminster Abbey is charging and it's up to 29GBP (although they do have a old person ticket for 26GBP). They do allow you to convert it to an annual pass but that doesn't really work for a foreign visitor.
I also wonder if the Louvre will decrease the number of entry slots allowed for Museum Pass holders with the price increase.
Kim, Thanks very much for letting us know, i appreciate it.
I really have no problem with this. The place is terribly overcrowded, price the entrance to control the numbers. Not sure what concessions they offer for those residents that would be underprivileged, but certainly, tourists can pay.
Not to take this off topic, but if they addressed the crowds just there to see the Mona Lisa, the place would be a much more serene venue. A separate pavilion, make it a whole Leonardo experience.
