Louvre: Saturday, Sunday or Monday?

I'm planning a visit to Paris mid September. I can make it to the Louvre on either a Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Rick's book says crowds can be miserable on Sun & Mon (the worst day). I know it's going to be busy either day but would you pick one day over the other? I will definately be getting an advance timed ticket. Thanks for any advice.

it doesn't matter; what matters is having a timed ticket because otherwise you won't get in at all. The Louvre has completely bungled its relocation of the Mona Lisa and has closed the museum most days to all but those with timed tickets because of the resulting traffic jam. Museum Passes are not being accepted without timed reservation. So base your choice on your own schedule, but get a reserved time slot.

Do not visit on Monday. Monday tends to be one of the busiest days to visit because the Musee D'Orsay is closed so everyone chooses to visit the Louvre (similarly, D'Orsay is the worst on Tuesdays when the Louvre is closed). Saturday and Sunday may both be very crowded, but do not go on a Monday
