Louvre reservations with children

My family will be making our first trip to Paris (our first trip to Europe also) over Thanksgiving week. I know that I need to reserve a time to visit the Louvre and that I need our Museum Passes before I can make those reservations. I had not planned to purchase Museum Passes for my two children (ages 12 & 15) because almost every museum we plan to visit is free for 18 and under, but I'm confused as to if I'll be able to make Louvre reservations without the number from the Museum Passes for them. Or do they even need the reservations if they're with us and we have our reservations? Does anyone know? I've looked on the Louvre website but haven't been able to find the answer to that exact question, although I may not have looked in exactly the right spot. Thank you!

Hi Jayesimp,

we were in Paris last month with an 18 yo and a 15yo. When buying my tickets I had the some questions, as my son is a EU resident under 26 he also had free admission. I contacted the Louvre and some other places with the question, and the basic answer was the minors just have to accompany the adults when the adults enter.

I could not find the response from the Louvre, but Versailles' policy was:

Moreover, we inform you that the Estate of Versailles, temporary exhibitions and audioguides are free for youngsters under 18 and the European Union residents under 26. Your children will just have to show their ID to enter the Palace since we do not print free tickets.

Hope that helps

Kids just walk in with parents at museums where they are free. The only two exceptions in Paris are Arc du Triomphe and Invalides where free tickets have to be acquired.
